The Fall is most definitely here. Today on a walk, I felt it - perhaps more acutely than evar. For rlz. It doesn't help that my area of residence just looks like it was copy-pasted from storybook-land. How can a body not notice the odd glitter in the gravel, or the couldn't-possibily-be-anything-but-delib erate formation made by the mushrooms, or the area that absolutely always makes a rustling noise when you're walking past? Today, all these things were evident enough to make me hurt. It's the feeling of knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there's something in the air, refusing to be seen. It only happens in the Fall. Stiltskins, I love the Fall. I truly don't ever take myself too seriously, honest. But all those leaves falling, the temperature changing, etc., might as well be catnip to me. And just as it stirs up my blood and inspires my creative side, it simultaneously distracts me. I become useless and giddy all at once, and my moods do flippyflops that are just plain funny. But enough of all that. The book is agreeing to be written! YAY! I'm closer to the holy grail of scenes than ever before. If I can just stay out of this weather long enough to write....sigh. What I learned today: That loneliness can be dead sexy? Goodness, I wish that classical music was mixed with the attention to detail that pop music gets. When people can take a song with horribly mediocre lyrics, put it to a kickin' track and have the even the disdainful music snobs tapping their toes to it, it's hard not to feel sad for poor Saint-Saens, Gounod, etc. If only somebody would put a little compression on that. Mebbe do sum leveling. Boost da bass? O_O In other news, it is Fall, and thusly I have returned to my obsession with Labyrinth. HOLY CRAP, out of the thousand songs in my library shuffling (see previous posts for my bad habit of shuffling my entire library), the opening theme from said 80'stastic glam rock fantasy flick just began playing. Just. As. I. Mention. The movie. DARN YOU, GOBLIN KING, STOP HIDING IN MY MAC. huff, huff, huff Yay, I think the inspiration high is coming back. ^_^ What I learned today: That I had rather spend my entire days' worth of calories on a giant pumpkin muffin than have three square meals. Having a lot of projects is really awesome and I love it. I currently have so many major undertakings that I always have something to do. That is not to say that I always know which one would be best to work on at any given moment, but it's been nice. Today, I finished got to a stopping point on the costume I'm going to use for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney World in October. YES, I am going to Disney World in October. For my birthday. Sweet-ness. Also, I worked a bit on a track, which was fun. Yesterday, I finished writing the theme song for my restaurant. That's one of the big projects I'm working on right now...trying to get something in the works involving the restaurant and youtube. If it works, it could be AWESOME PHENOMENAL ...BEYOND WORDS. I'm having way too much fun with this cross-out-words button that I have just discovered not moments ago. Ssssssomebody posted my human Disney jukebox video on thedisneyblog.com and that was so cool to see! Now, I'm off to work on my other giant project. What I learned today: How to become green! ...being a singing waitress is even more fun. I feel like it's a relatively novel job. My restaurant is wonderful - it's a family-owned Italian restaurant that's been there since the late '50's. And it's the most romantic restaurant ever, because our booth doors close. And you can write on the walls. Literally every inch of our walls have love notes on them. Rarely a week goes by at the Inn without proposals. The thing about waiting tables is, it's pretty much the most difficult industry to break into ever. Apart from the entertainment industry. Maybe. But at this restaurant, pretty much the only prerequisite to be a server is that you have to be able to sing. We have a live pianist every night and between duties as a server, you sing to your tables. And you can sing anything. As I wait tables, I find myself coming up with all these crazy stories. On the 4th of July, an elderly man came into the restaurant alone and was seated in my section. This restaurant is a date-ish restaurant, so we don't get a lot of singles. He was quiet - he ordered a glass of wine, an entree and left, all within an hour. It was late-ish on the 4th, right around when the fireworks would be starting. I wondered why he wasn't out watching them with his family - the restaurant was pretty dead otherwise. So I started to do what I always do when I'm intrigued by a table. I made up a crazy story. It went something like this: In his youth, Mr. Table 10 worked a fireworks show. One year on the 4th of July, he fell in love with a sweet, quiet girl that loved Italian food and music. They kissed under the fireworks finale. When they had been dating a while, Mr. Table 10 looked up in the phonebook (they didn't have Google then) for a good Italian restaurant that also had music and, of course, found mine. So he took her there on the 4th of July, and, like so many before and after him, proposed to her. And, of course, she said yes. Then, after many happy years together, time took her away from him. So every year, on the 4th of July, he goes to the restaurant where he proposed and feels, for an hour or so, like she's with him again. D'AWWWWWWWWWWWW Or maybe he just doesn't like fireworks. What I learned today: That blueberries stain worse than blood. Tags: 4th of july, italian inn, mr. table 10, waiting tables Current Music: Cirque du Soleil, Pokinoi
